The Edwina Team
It really was a hands on educational seminar.

Senior Meatcutter,
but I can assure you it was not because of experience.

21 September 2006
Where I've been the last three days, Sept 18, 19 & 20.
I was in great company. This picture was taken on 9/18/2006. Can you find
the two BWCAA members in the front row? A small hint!- One is young and
beautiful, the other is an Old Gray Headed Gentleman. Several of these
folks are now well acquainted with British White Cattle.

Lucy's Baby
I'll bet you have a
Lucy cow in your herd too. This brand new baby is from Linda Hohenwald's
herd in Minnesota. Thanks Linda, even after all my years it is still
exciting times when the new calves arrive.

7 September 2006
This picture was taken just before sundown on 9/5/06,
calf was about 36 hours old. The heifer calf is an ET out of a Popeye
sister name Wilma and sired by Woodbastwick Premium Bond. Premium Bond is
an old English bull that I think was popular in the 1970's time frame. The
semen was in glass ampules. The cow is one I bred and sold many years ago
but was fortunate to be able to reacquire her. I have one more ET calf due
anytime from the same flush.

Picture taken 8/18/06
This nice heifer is owned by Todd
Smith, Henderson, Texas and he has two older full sisters to her. These
three females are just about as good as they come. What a cow family to
start a herd with but try talking him out of them. Sire is Kaptain (High
gaining bull on Kilgore College bull test a few years ago, now deceased)
and dam is a common good little old cow named Princess 37L. Princess is
really doing a good job of raising her calf in an extreme drought
condition, those are unpalatable weeds at top of picture. The heifer is
standing in the good grass area. She heifer is about 5 months old in
picture.

Grass Fed Cow Calf Pair
Would you like to have a pasture full
of cows that look like this in the middle of summer on just grass. This
entire herd of British White Cattle survives on a diet of 100% pasture
plus only Alfalfa Hay as a winter supplement if needed. This picture was
taken on August 18, 2006 in the JWest Cattle Co. pasture in deep East
Texas. The good part is that this pair is not an isolated case, see
pictures of many more equally as good or better at these web pages.
JWest Cattle &
JWest Cattle 2
Then follow the links at the bottom of the page for still more good cattle.

Minnesota Twins
This is the most
exciting thing that has happened on the farm yet! We got perfectly marked
twins! They are a bull and heifer and we will remain optimistic that the
heifer will be fertile. They are absolutely adorable and actually weighed
73 & 78! Mama has enough milk for an army!
Picture furnished by Linda Hohenwald.

Todd & Trent Smith
Todd's message with this picture was,
"Use this to show off the disposition of our British White Breed of
Cattle," and it does that well. Notice the whole herd is milling around
them and not a one seems excited. You might also notice they are not
enticed by a feed bucket. Yes, "No Feed Bucket" and Todd owns a full
service East Texas Tri-County Feed Store on US Highway 79 South of
Henderson.
You be the judge though! Is Todd really
showing off the British Whites disposition or his new 7 month old son?

Lenny Pelc sends us this weeks picture
from Strasburg, Colorado. A really nice looking heifer, congratulations to
Jordan on a job well done. I believe this was at the 2006 Arapaho County
fair in July 2006.

27 July 2006
Linda Hohenwald sends us this picture from Minnesota.
Linda's words of wisdom along with the photo.
The
sky lit up tonight like it was on fire. We got some very needed rain, but
I don't think it was enough yet. We are getting as dry as Texas now and I
sure pray all the British White folks get some needed rain and soon!

20 July 2006
Rose Buffington and her heifer at the Polk County Fair, Southeast Texas.
Looks like the judge is really looking her over. Rose has been showing her
British White Heifers long enough that this is a second generation heifer
out of a previous show heifer.

13 July 2006
This picture comes from Janet Woods,
Farmersville, Texas. Notice the excellent conformation of the cow,
nicknamed "Blue" and Janet says she always passes it on to her calves. The
thing that makes this special to Janet is the new calf, it is Blue's first
ever heifer after several bulls in a row. This is another dry spot in
Texas.

6 July 2006
Linda Hohenwald sends us this week's
picture from "Green Acres Minnesota", why does she deserve more moisture
than Us Texans? Label the picture "curious about cats". Just looking at
the picture you might think the cat is ignoring them but notice who is
protected by a post. Thanks Linda, sure glad you are getting the moisture.

29 June 2006
Been looking through my old pictures to
see if the grass was ever green this time of year. That blue trailer is a
dead give-a-way to those of you that have known me a while. This picture
is 6 years ago, really looks like a good year for grass. Our weather
forecasters are telling us that May & June 2006 will go down in the record
books with the least recorded rainfall ever for these two months. Sounds
real promising, no rain for two months and we are just starting our dry
season.

22 June 2006
This young bull answers to the name of
Trophy Farm Fritz and he just found a new home at Halliburton Farms. I
invite you to join me as we watch him develop. He is very tightly linebred
from a father/daughter mating. His sire Dublin has a pedigree with animals
like, MS NOY 4F & Royal Pride on the bottom side. TR Regis Rocco, TR Regis
Rush and TR Woodbastwick Regis II on the top side. He is just a baby now
and time will tell.

An excellent marked British White Calf.
I'll bet it is not for sale but if you're looking for some like this Way
Up North. Check with Linda Hohenwald, Brook Park, Minnesota. 320-679-3977
Thanks for the picture Linda, sure hope your grass is growing better than
Texas. Today's weather man says so far we have the driest May & June on
record, two of our normal rainy months.

8 June 2006
What a nice pair of cattle, a good
looking standard marked British White calf out of a solid black dam. It
happens a majority of the time. This week's picture sent in by Eric &
Kelly Popp, many thanks for sharing your your common miracle.

01 June 2006
This picture was taken about this time in 2003. It
proves that we have had green grass this time of year. Sure not so this
year.
